What is Hinoki?

Hinoki Cypress is Japanes for white cedar.  It is a somewhat rare tree that grows naturally primarily in Asia. OHP uses only wood from trees already downed by storms and other natural causes; no trees are cut down to make our products.

How is the Hinoki Soaking Tub Used?

Hinoki tubs are designed to bring you hours of relaxation and soaking pleasure.  They are made for soaking, not for bathing and should not be used with soap or other harsh chemicals.

Bathers should soap up and rinse off in a shower or a conventional bathtub prior to entering the soaking tub.

Items such as soap, chlorine, or other chemicals will destroy hinoki wood over time.

What Makes Hinoki Superior to any other Cedar?

Hinoki is quite unique in that it:

  • has a wonderful, natural scent
  • is highly rot resistant
  • has a lovely, light color
  • its chemical composition makes its wood oil highly therapeutic
  • does not cause skin irritation like other types of cedar

What are the Therapeutic Properties of Hinoki?

Hinoki's aroma has both relaxing and decongestant effect.

Hinoki is perfect for aromatherapy. Its relaxation properties help relieve tension and soothe stress.  It is also excellent for relieving stuffy noses, sinus and chest congestion, and respiratory problems.  Hot water helps to release the wood's natural oils and that is when the magic of hinoki begins.

Aren't Wooden Tubs Unsanitary?

Not hinoki tubs.  The most prominent elements in hinoki wood are known for their ability to naturally kill bacteria, viruses, viral infections, and fungus.  In fact, hinoki's anti-infectious agents are known to cure infections.  The wood has been used in Asia for centuries without complaint.

Where Can I Put a Soaking Tub?

Just about anywhere.

Bathroom, patio, deck, spa area.  Inside or outdoors.

In your home, condo, vacation home, timeshare, cabin, or apartment. Wherever you want to create a restful haven from the cares of the world.

Does Hinoki Irritate Skin Like Other Woods?

No!

Unlike other woods, such as juniper and red cedar, hinoki does not cause skin irritation or female problems.  Hinoki is gentle on skin and has even been used to make facial and body soap.  In fact, the properties in hinoki are very effective antiseptics for healing and treating skin problems like rashes, cuts, abrasions, and minor skin irritation.

How Easy is it To Install a Hinoki Tub?

Very!  You can install the tub yourself or have it installed by a professional plumber or contractor. We offer installation options in our information packet.

What Are the Filter, Pump & Heating Unit Dimensions?

The assembled unit is 32" long, 20" wide, and 21" tall and is shipped pre-assembled. For more details, see Filter/Pump/Heating Unit page.

How are OHP Bath Products Shipped?
